We introduce a novel, faster, lower-cost, and dependable method for detecting HBoV1. This method combines a recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) assay with the CRISPR/Cas12a system, termed the RPA-Cas12a-fluorescence assay. By utilizing the RPA-Cas12a-fluorescence system, target gene levels of HBoV1 plasmid DNA as low as 0.5 copies per microliter can be specifically identified within 40 minutes at 37°C, negating the need for advanced instrumentation. The method exhibits remarkable specificity, demonstrating no cross-reactivity with non-target pathogens. In addition, the methodology was scrutinized using 28 clinical specimens, showcasing outstanding accuracy with positive and negative predictive accuracy at 909% and 100%, respectively. In western China, limited information is available about mortality from natural causes and suicide, specifically the associated risk factors, within the SMI population. To ascertain the risk factors for natural death and suicide within the SMI population of western China, a study was undertaken. Data from the severe mental illness information system in Sichuan province (western China), covering the period from January 1, 2006, to July 31, 2018, were used to identify 20,195 patients with severe mental illness (SMI) for the cohort study. Patients' varying characteristics were factors in determining mortality rates, per 10,000 person-years, due to natural causes and suicide. Utilizing the Fine-Gray competing risk model, researchers investigated the risk factors contributing to both natural demise and suicide. Analyzing mortality rates over 10,000 person-years, natural deaths exhibited a rate of 1328, while suicide resulted in a mortality rate of 136. The following factors were markedly associated with natural death: male gender, advanced age, divorced or widowed status, poverty, and a lack of anti-psychotic treatment. A strong correlation existed between suicide attempts and higher education levels, as risk factors for suicide. Among individuals with SMI in western China, a lack of shared risk factors was noted between natural death and suicide.
